Global Workforce Initiative

The San Fernando Valley Chapter supports the Global Workforce Initiative, a critical effort to ensure the continued sustainability of the facility management (FM) profession. The Global Workforce Initiative seeks to fill the growing FM workforce talent gap as more than half of today’s practitioners are expected to retire in the next five to 15 years. Working in partnership with impacted industries around the world, the IFMA Foundation is leading the charge to make FM a career of choice. By working with educators at all levels and increasing the number of accredited FM degrees and educational programs around the world, the Global Workforce Initiative is helping create a clear career pathway to an exciting and fulfilling career in FM. More information can be found at: http://foundation.ifma.org/global-workforce-initiative.

Doing our part:

The San Fernando Valley Chapter will support the College of Canyons in Santa Clarita as they launch their Essentials of FM curriculum this summer.  This 15-student cohort will learn the 11 core competencies which will provide them a foundation for the facilities management profession.  Each student will become a member of our Chapter and we are looking forward to engaging with each of them.

How you can get involved:

  • Volunteer as a guest lecturer
  • Join our GWI Committee

Please contact [email protected] to get involved in this incredible opportunity to develop a talent pipeline, making FM a career of choice.
